Prepare for Your Move

use as many boxes as you can.

un plug your washing machine and place the hot/cold hoses in the machine.

generally, leave frozen items in your fridge and take out any breakables. Leave it on until we arrive, we will unplug it.

dismantle bedding if possible.

take out anything breakable in bedside drawers and chester draws. Leave the rest in.

Whatever you can Bring into the Grarage and place link items together.IE. boxes, bages etc.

when unloading, it’s best to determine a central location to put all your boxes. Of course, if you want them put where they should.gp., that’s OK. Just remember , if your putting together beds etc , you don’t want a bedroom full of boxes beforehand. It’s just more efficient to unload them in a central location.

ideally , take out shelving etc. from your fridge if going down stairs. Your removalist will thank you for it. Tape the doors closed , use packing tape.

if you have table chairs ( legs )  that may be prone to scratching , buy painters cloth tape and run a strip down the outside edges.

if you have glass ( shelving , table tops , etc ) , run your painters cloth tape around the edge.

all furniture from Ikea, etc,  ( flat packed and put together ) , make sure all lock nuts are tight and any backing board ( it provides stability ) is secure. If not, potentially it may fall apart when picked up.

regarding fridges, if I was moving and I didn’t know the professionalism of the removalist arriving, I would at least bubble wrap the fridge front. I would then plastic wrap the entire fridge. It is rare to come across a fridge without a mark/ scratch on its front.

if your undoing beds before the removalist arrives , tape bed rails together back to back, bed slats tape together also. Lay them on the ground, not.up against a wall.

if you have ceiling fans, turn them all off.

keep all your pets away from the move.

This is not a complete list, but just a few things to consider before your move day.
